Spiderbeam Kit
The Heavy Duty Spiderbeam is a specially reinforced version, optimized for permanent installation at home (see chapter 4 of our construction guide PDF). Doubling the wall thickness of the aluminium and fiberglass parts added a lot of extra ruggedness to the design, making it strong enough to permanently survive severe weather conditions for many years. All parts are made from high quality materials resistant to weather, UV rays and corrosion.
The well proven electrical concept remains unchanged: 3 monobanders are interlaced on one boom, forming a highly efficient 3-band yagi. At 10.7kg this full size beam is still a lightweight, compared to many other permanent yagis in the same performance class. You will find suitable aluminium masts here. Please read above this product.
Putting together this antenna kit will be a fun and educational project. It contains all the necessary parts to make a 100% complete antenna, as described in the construction guide. Nothing beats the satisfaction of cracking pile-ups with an antenna you built with your own hands!
Welcome aboard. Over 700 spiderbeams are already installed worldwide.

HD 12 metres Fibreglass Pole
Spiderbeam Heavy Duty fibreglass poles are perfect for building all kinds of wire antennas.
A single person can easily put them up within a few minutes. Especially developed to make our portable equipment even more rugged and durable!
These are extremely strong poles, with a much greater wall thickness (up to 2mm!) than the usual “fishing rod” types. A special reinforcing winding technique – several layers of fibreglass are wound in alternating direction (criss/cross winding) – provides greatly increased lateral and linear strength. Stronger joints are achieved by a much larger overlap between the individual tube segments than usual.

Clamps
Complete set: – Contains 11 stainless steel clamps with rubber padding.
(For portable installations, most people simply use sticky tape for locking the individual tube segments, and this works very well!)
However, clamps are the perfect method to securely lock the segments of the fibreglass mast for a long period. They are especially suitable for permanent installations and superior to all other locking mechanisms (tape, glue, cable ties).
They have a very strong grip, yet they can be removed easily even after years of installation.
Install the clamps as follows:
Simply put one clamp at the very bottom end of each tube segment and tighten the clamp. Here it will act as a stopper and prevent the tube from sliding downwards into the next bigger tube segment.
The rubber padding is made of a thick flat rubber band, protecting the mast against any damage from the clamps.
Guy Belt for 12m Fibreglass Pole
This strong guy belt is an ideal method for quickly attaching guy ropes to the pole. The belt is very flexible and lightweight and transfers the forces into the mast over a very large area, thus preventing damage.
Simply slide the belt over the mast.
The belt rests at the bottom of the 8th segment with a diameter of 27mm (= approx. 7m height).
Attach 3 or 4 guy ropes (in 90° or 120° directions) and tie them to ground pegs at a distance of approx 5m from the pole.
Spiderbeam 18m (60ft) Fibreglass Pole
Especially developed for successful portable low-band activities on 80 and 160m!
Imagine building a quick portable 80m 4-square array that you can put up within less than one hour…
A single person can easily “walk up” the pole within a few minutes.
Spiderbeam 18m (60ft) fibreglass poles are built very similar to our well proven 12m HD fibreglass poles, yet carefully designed to maintain low weight and perfect balance.
The pole starts out very rugged at the bottom (73mm diameter/2mm wall thickness) and still has 40mm dia /1.5mm wall thickness at 10m height! The upper sections are slim and light (1mm wall thickness), preventing the pole from becoming top heavy and keeping it perfectly balanced. A special reinforcing winding technique – several layers of fibreglass are wound in alternating direction (criss/cross winding) – provides greatly increased lateral and linear strength.
These poles are perfect for building all kinds of wire antennas, especially 80/160m wire GP or inverted L antennas. They can also easily support temporary lightweight 1 Element Quad or Delta loops for 40-10m, and dipoles for all bands, especially when used with open wire feedline. (Most baluns would be somewhat heavy).
4-6 poles could be used to build lightweight beams for 40 or 80m (…who is going to build one for 160? :-)).
The best (and cheapest) wire to use for building such wire antennas (verticals, loops, dipoles etc.) is AWG 18 (= 1mm dia) enamelled copper wire or similar.
Pole installation
One person can easily “walk up” the pole by pressing the bottom against a rock, tree, car or ground anchor, or having a second person hold it. Once the pole is in vertical position, it can easily be moved around.
Fix the bottom to a ground anchor and attach guy lines at 2 levels. Thin fishing monofilament (1mm dia) or 2mm Kevlar rope very suitable for guy lines.
